National Airfares on the Rise, But Fort Lauderdale flights still some of the lowest in the country

Good news and bad news for those planning a trip to Fort Lauderdale this year.  According to numbers released by the U.S. Department of Transportation,  national domestic airfares rose by 10% in the fourth quarter of 2011, up from $335 in the same period in 2010.

By contrast, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was $269 for that period, making it the fourth lowest out of the countries top 100 airports. We think that’s good news, especially for our customers planning a vacation in Fort Lauderdale who are concerned about cost.

Most of our customers are planning trips involving a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter. For many of them their deep sea fishing trip in Fort Lauderdale will be the highlight of their visit, and also one of their more expensive items.

Having low airfares helps Fort Lauderdale fishing boats and Fort Lauderdale fising captains by making Fort Lauderdale an economical vacation destination. Especially when you factor in the cost of flying a family somewhere, a difference of $80 or more per ticket really adds up.

For our Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charter customers looking for the best airfares to Fort Lauderdale, my favorite site is Kayak, which searches all the airlines’ sites as well as Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity and aggregates all that information on one page. This saves you tons of time and usually tons of money. You can also search multiple dates, or a range of weekends. It’s really very helpful.
