Mahi Mahi Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

The weather this past week has not lived up to Fort Lauderdale’s “sunny” reputation, but thanks to strong east winds, the dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi) really seem to be biting, presumably due to increased amounts of baitfish.

Mahi Mahi fishing in Fort Lauderdale has been best around 100 – 300 feet. For Fort Lauderdale, 100 – 300 feet equates to about a mile or so offshore. This is good news for the Fort Lauderdale fishing boats because it means they don’t have to use a lot of fuel to get to the fishing grounds, but it’s even better news if you’re a guest on a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter because it means you’ll spend less time getting to the fishing area and more time fishing in Fort Lauderdale.
