Fort Lauderdale Tourism is on the Rise

There’s good news for all of us in the Fort Lauderdale Tourism industry, especially for Fort Lauderdale fishing charters. According to numbers released this week by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau comparing March 2012 to March 2011, Fort Lauderdale hotel occupancy was up by 2.8% compared to last year.  Average hotel occupancy in March 2011 was 83.4%. For 2012, those numbers jumped 85.8%.

Average hotel room rates in Fort Lauderdale also climbed 4%. The current average room rate in Fort Lauderdale in March 2012 was $140, which makes Fort Lauderdale an economical domestic destination.  This average rate is calculated from a number of hotels at different price points. Obviously, visitors looking for very inexpensive accomodations can find them in Fort Lauderdale, with some rooms starting as low as $30 a night. On the flip side, Fort Lauderdale also features luxury accommodations with rooms ranging from a few hundred dollars on up into the thousands.

Most of our Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing charter customers opt for the middle of the range hotels, which tend to have nightly rates between $100 and $200 or right around the average reported by the Convention and Visitors Bureau
