Bahia Cabana is a Great Stop After a Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charter

Going on one of our deep sea fishing trips in Fort Lauderdale and looking for what to do after. I recommend Bahia Cabana, a great bar / restaurant right next to one of our most popular Fort Lauderdale Fishing Boats, “Local Knowledge”.

Full disclosure: Bahia Cabana is a total tourist trap. But it’s a tourist trap in the best way possible. The restaurant is a throwback to Fort Lauderdale’s “seedy” days, before the high end restaurants and boutiques took over on Las Olas Blvd and around town. The restaurant is attached to a Days Inn hotel, which, to be perfectly honest, you should probably avoid if you’re looking for a place to stay in Fort Lauderdale.

By contrast, the Bahia Cabana restaurant is great. The food is above average for bar food, and the seafood is generally fresh and well prepared. Most importantly, the drinks are tasty and strong, I’m a sucker for the frozen Rum Runner. What else could you ask for after a Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing trip!

The restaurant has a deck with view of the multi-million dollar mega yachts docked in the Bahia Mar Marina (no connection to Bahia Cabana) as well as views of A1A and the ocean. If you’re willing to break the rules a little bit and you have a bathing suit, you can sneak into the hotels Jacuzzi or pool, which is adjacent to the restaurant and is a great place to relax after. Bring a camera and take a photo of you and yours along with life size sculpture of Jake and Elwood blues, who spend all day sitting on a bench overlooking the Jacuzzi.

Although not a “classy joint” Bahia Cabana does have a few touches of luxury: namely, valet parking (for a fee) as well as a bathroom attendant, although I’m not sure if the bathroom attendant is employed by the hotel or is just an enterprising guy who set up shop there and is tolerated by the management.
